Hu Jintao, ethnic Han, native of Jixi, Anhui Province, born in December 1942. Joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in April 1964 and began working in July 1965. Graduated from the specialty of hub hydropower stations of the Department of Water Conservancy Engineering of Tsinghua University. With a university education. Engineer.

General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People's Republic of China, Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission and Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China.

1959-1964: Student at the Department of Water Conservancy Engineering of Tsinghua University.

1964-1965: Postgraduate and political instructor at the Water Conservancy Engineering Department of Tsinghua University.

1965-1968: Participated in R&D at the Water Conservancy Engineering Department of Tsinghua University and served as political instructor before the start of the "cultural revolution" in 1966.

1968-1969: Worked with the housing construction team of Liujia Gorge Engineering Bureau, Ministry of Water Conservancy.

1969-1974: Technician and Secretary at No.813 Sub-Bureau, Fourth Engineering Bureau, Ministry of Water Conservancy and Deputy Secretary of the General Party Branch of the sub-bureau's head office.

1974-1975: Secretary at the Gansu Provincial Construction Committee (GPCC).

1975-1980: Deputy Director of the Design Management Division, GPCC.

1980-1982: Vice Chairman of GPCC, and Secretary of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League (September-December 1982).

1982-1984: Member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, and Chairman of the All-China Youth Federation.

1984-1985: First Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China.

1985-1988: Secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, and First Secretary of the Party Committee of Guizhou Provincial Military Command.

1988-1992: Secretary of the Party Committee of Tibet Autonomous Region, and First Secretary of the Party Committee of Tibet Military Command.

1992-1993: Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.

1993-1998: Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and President of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee.

1998-1999: Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, Vice President of the People's Republic of China, and President of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee.

1999-2002: Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission, Vice President of the People's Republic of China, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, and President of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee.

Elected President of the People's Republic of China at the First Session of the 10th National People's Congress. Became Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission at the Fourth Plenum of the 16th CPC Central Committee. Elected Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China at the Third Session of the 10th National People's Congress. Appointed Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission at the First Plenum of the 17th CPC Central Committee. A member of the Standing Committee of the Sixth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Wu Bangguo, ethnic Han, native of Feidong, Anhui Province, born in July 1941. Joined the CPC in April 1964 and began working in September 1966. Graduated from the Department of Radio and Electronics of Tsinghua University, majoring in electronic vacuum devices. With a university education. Engineer.

Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress and Secretary of its Leading Party Members' Group.

1960-1967: Student majoring in electronic vacuum devices at the Department of Radio and Electronics, Tsinghua University.

1967-1976: Worker and technician at Shanghai No.3 Electronic Tube Factory, Deputy Chief and Chief of its Technical Section.

1976-1978: Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Director of the Revolutionary Committee, Deputy Factory Director, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Factory Director of Shanghai No.3 Electronic Tube Factory.

1978-1979: Deputy Manager of Shanghai Electronic Components Company.

1979-1981: Deputy Manager of Shanghai Electronic Vacuum Devices Company.

1981-1983: Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Meters and Telecommunications Bureau.

1983-1985: Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and concurrently Secretary of the CPC Municipal Committee in charge of science and technology.

1985-1991: Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee.

1991-1992: Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee.

1992-1994: Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee.

1994-1995: Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.

1995-1997: Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and Vice Premier of the State Council.

1997-1998: Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council.
