"China's comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development of the education system not only ensures that people have equal access to education opportunities, but also provides sufficient human resource storage. The average number of years of education of Chinese above age 15 and the new labor force is more than 8.5 years and 11 years, respectively. More than 82 million people have received higher education, which stands at the forefront among developing countries. The nine-year compulsory education policy has made great achievements, covering more than 160 million primary and middle school students so far in both rural and urban areas. This marks a sea change that has greatly improved the quality of Chinese science and culture. It is also helping our country become not only the world's most populous country, but also a great power in human resources." |
