Foreign Political Party Leaders' Views on the Fifth Plenary Session of 19th CPC Central Committee

Artem Semenov, a member of the Central Committee of the United Russia Party

China’s GDP totaled $14.89 trillion in 2019, accounting for 16 percent of the global economy and contributing about 30 percent to world economic growth. China contained timely the spread of the novel coronavirus disease and put its economy on the right track of recovery and development. Against this background, the proposals for the 14th Five-Year Plan point out the direction for China’s future development. While pursuing its own goals, China has always been concerned about the shared future of humanity, pushed for wider and deeper opening-up, and played a leading role in world prosperity. Against the backdrop of global chaos, China’s responsibilities as a major country are admirable.

Aleksandar Vulin, President of the Movement of Socialists in Serbia

We are pleased to see that the Fifth Plenary Session of the CPC Central Committee has formulated a new strategic plan for China’s development. We are confident that China will make significant progress in poverty alleviation and accelerate its march toward high-quality development. I am deeply impressed by the new economic development pattern of “dual circulation.” I believe that China will continue to open up, and that the new pattern can provide useful lessons for the development of our own country. The ineffective response to the novel coronavirus disease is yet another example of the lack of solidarity, and we call for cooperation to achieve common development. Socialism with Chinese characteristics has set an example to the world and made China a country with global influence and capable of benefiting all. Serbia will never forget the great help and support China provided to us during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Randjelovic, Serbian Progressive Party

In formulating its 14th Five-Year Plan, China has solicited comments and suggestions of people from all walks of life, with emphasis on putting people first, promoting modernization, social harmony, practical cooperation and the dual circulation development pattern. This reflects the distinctive features of democratic participation and inclusiveness within the Party. The CPC pledged to further strengthen China’s role in global governance, open domestic markets to benefit the people, promote mutual respect and follow a development path with Chinese characteristics. We are ready to strengthen cooperation between our two parties in the future, strengthen exchanges and deepen bilateral relations.

Sadok Jabnoun, Spokesperson of Tunisian Qalb Tounes

Over the past decade, China has maintained an average annual economic growth rate of over 6 percent and achieved high levels of development in the economic, financial and social sectors. A total of 800 million people have been lifted out of poverty, accounting for more than 70 percent of the world’s total. Despite the impact of COVID-19, China’s GDP will exceed 100 trillion yuan by 2020, making it one of the countries with the fastest economic recovery. In addition, China is becoming a global high-tech center, paying more attention to the added value of economic development and promoting 5G and 6G technologies. Cities such as Shenzhen are speeding up their efforts to follow eco-friendly green and low-carbon development and accelerate economic integration with other cities. We believe that China has a broad prospect. We hope that China can step up cooperation with African countries and promote the economic and technological collaboration between Tunisia and China to a higher level.

Dilip Barua, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh

The 14th Five-Year Plan provides guidance for China at a critical time. Bangladesh is a close neighbor of China and faces many development challenges itself. We look forward to deepening our cooperative relations with China, as the country is now fostering a new development pattern where domestic and foreign markets can boost each other, with the domestic market as the mainstay.

Ananda Pokharel, General Secretary of Friends of Silk Road

China has made remarkable achievements during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, which reflects its strategic planning and thorough implementation. Facing the increasing uncertainties and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fifth Plenary Session pointed out that China is still in an important period of strategic opportunity for development at present and for the foreseeable future. This demonstrates China’s resolve and confidence in development. This has not only enhanced the confidence of other countries for future development, and also injected impetus to the world economic recovery against the pandemic. We hope that China and Nepal can enhance the exchanges of experience in governance and help Nepal accelerate its economic growth.
