PLA Soldiers Aid Villagers in Drought-hit Yunnan
Share

The PLA (Peoples Liberation Army) troops stationed in southwest China's Yunnan Province have traveled to rural villages transporting water to those in need. Many soldiers say have been touched by the solidarity of people, especially children, suffering through the drought.

At this suburban primary school in the provincial capital, Kunming, the drought has left its devastating mark.

Bottled water delivered by the PLA may not resolve all the problems, but it did provide welcome relief to heat-stricken students.

PLA soldier Zhu Peihua said, "It broke my heart to see them drink only a little bit each time. They saved the water for their family. We didn't do enough."
