The English edition of The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin has sold more than 110,000 copies worldwide since its debut over a year ago, its English copyright holder announced on February 3. Winner of the 2015 Hugo Award for Best Novel and the first part of the Three-Body trilogy, the novel has made more than $2 million, said Li Yun, an executive from the China Educational Publications Import and Export Corporation. Translated into English by Chinese-American Ken Li, the work was published by Tor Books in November 2014. The Dark Forest , the second in the series, was published in the United States in August 2015. Death's End , the last of the trilogy, will be published in August this year. The trilogy depicts an alien invasion of Earth starting from China's Cultural Revolution period. The Three-Body Problem centers on a secret military project that enables humans to establish contact with the aliens who teeter on the edge of extinction. The trilogy has sold more than 1 million copies in China. Liu was the first Asian writer to win the Hugo Award, generally considered the highest honor for sci-fi works.
