Lights and shades, partly visible floral and other designs on a dress pattern resemble a cloud-shrouded Shangri-La. Traditional Chinese architectural elements are altered into modern and sophisticated dress designs. Jewelry is added to dresses to make them sparkle. These collections, all from Chinese designers, are part of Hot Now China presented at New York Fashion Week on the night of September 9.
Hot Now China, a runway fashion show co-hosted by Tencent News, the China Fashion Association and the International Fashion and Culture Institute, not only aims to provide a medium to unveil new collections from Chinese designers, but also to offer a high-level platform for young Chinese designers to enter the world stage, according to organizers. On the same night, the 2018 International Select Fashion Awards, established in 2017 by Tencent, was also held, where seven awards were presented. "New York is a passionate and multicultural international city. New York Fashion Week has its own unique dynamic fashion trend," said Yi Haiyan, General Manager of Tencent Regional Business Group, at the awards ceremony. Held in New York City, the awards help industry leaders explore business opportunities, while giving China's fashion industry more exposure, so as to lead in new fashion and future trends, said Yi. Held in February and September, the semi-annual New York Fashion Week is one of the four major fashion weeks in the world, along with those in Paris, London and Milan.
