On June 27, the book Spirit of the Red Boat: The Dream Sets Sail was unveiled in both Chinese and English in Jiaxing City, east China's Zhejiang Province. The book commemorates the red-boat spirit, a reference to the boat where the closing session of the founding National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held in 1921. The congress, which opened in Shanghai and closed in nearby Jiaxing, marked the birth of the CPC. "The launch of the book will definitely help present the great spirit of the CPC to the world," said Zhang Fuhai, President of China International Publishing Group (CIPG). Ge Huijun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, said that the red-boat spirit is the source of the Chinese revolutionary spirit, and encourages the CPC to overcome difficulties along its journey of revolution and governance. Spirit of the Red Boat: The Dream Sets Sail is the first book in Foreign Languages Press' series Spirit of the CPC. The book series is designed to welcome the 19th CPC National Congress to be held later this year and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC in 2021 by introducing to the international community the Chinese way of thinking on governance. |
