Chinese cities are still undergoing urbanization at different rates, as complex demands of citizens on living standards are proving difficult to meet. Research on the further improvement of cities conducted by several institutions, such as the Liaowang Institute, has proposed the development of cities with built-in modern, urban facilities.

In the context of the new technological revolution, urbanization is no longer confined to traditional urban construction, but also involves reconstruction and upgrading of cities. At the same time, by linking the surrounding towns with advanced technologies, a city cluster can be developed, which transforms the original urban system.

To realize the blueprint of urbanization, a scientific top-level design is necessary. It should provide clear guidance to overall construction according to local conditions and clarify the functions of different areas. A smart city cluster platform should be created with the ability to collect and connect data while providing analysis. Data privacy should also be emphasized.

The arrival of 5G telecommunication technology and the application of artificial intelligence can provide strong technical support for the upgrading of logistics and telecommunication, as well as the management of cities.

Ecosystems should also be paid attention to in the process of urbanization. Infrastructure systems including energy and transportation should be eco-friendly and meet the standards of green development. Cities should utilize more renewable energy and further promote clean and new energy vehicles.

Traditional and new industries should be integrated along with the development of green industries such as cultural tourism and modern agriculture. Cultural spaces should also be created with an emphasis on making a city an attractive and livable place.
