Editor's note: Bakhtiyor Saidov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to People's Republic of China, was interviewed by Beijing Review on October 24. He shared his thoughts on the relations between China and Uzbekistan and gave his opinions on the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Edited excerpts of his remarks follow:

Taking this opportunity, firstly, I would like to express sincere congratulations and warm wishes to the people of China and the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on the occasion of the successful completion of the 19th CPC National Congress.

The CPC National Congress has become a truly important event in the political life of China and attracts special attention from the entire world community.

I can say with confidence that since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, under the leadership of the Central Committee of the CPC and its General Secretary, Xi Jinping, China has become an important player in promoting development and peace in the world.

After the 19th CPC National Congress, which concluded on October 24, the CPC will continue its efforts to bring prosperity, growth and stability to the country.

Uzbekistan highly values and treasures its traditional friendship, comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation with China. With its confident and dynamic development, which has a great influence on the world, China has become a close and reliable partner of Uzbekistan. The cooperation between China and Uzbekistan has been upgraded on the basis of solid friendship, mutual understanding and respect.

I want to note that the pledge of a lasting comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China also reflects the personal friendship between the leaders of the two nations. Today, Xi Jinping has been re-elected General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC. Republic of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was one of the first state leaders to send congratulations to Xi.

In his message, President Mirziyoyev said, "In a short period of time, under the wise leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has achieved impressive success in the consistent implementation of profound strategies of social, political and economic reforms, which aim primarily at sustainable development and improvement of the welfare of the country."

Thanks to the efforts of our national leaders, currently there are promising projects in sectors such as chemicals, textiles, construction, pharmaceuticals, transport, agriculture and high technology.

I am confident that the implementation of the agreements reached following the last top-level meetings in May in Beijing will contribute to the further expansion of the bilateral political dialogue and fruitful cooperation in trade and economy, science and technology, the humanitarian sector and other fields.
