Share

(XINHUA)

Wu Yajun, a 48-year-old property developer, was named China's wealthiest woman by the Hurun Rich Women List 2012 released on October 19 in Beijing, with a net worth of 38 billion yuan ($6.12 billion). She also ranked first on the Global Self-made Rich Women List released on the same day.

Wu graduated from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 1984. She was a journalist prior to starting her real estate business in 1994. Wu is now chairman of the Beijing-based Longfor Properties Co. Ltd. She said wealth does not matter much to her. She is more focused on building a great company like Microsoft or Apple, which benefits her shareholders, employees and the wider public.
