Chinese professional snooker celebrity player Ding Junhui has become the first Chinese Snooker Masters champion with a 10-4 victory over Marco Fu from Hong Kong at the Wembley Arena in London. This is also the first time the final round was contested by two Chinese.

Back in the 2007 Masters final, Ding lost to Ronnie O'Sullivan by 10-3. This time, Ding proved himself by winning a prize of 150,000 pounds ($237,846) for the championship by defeating Fu, to whom he lost in last year's Asian Games in Guangzhou.

"The Masters is a big tournament," said Ding. "It was a great match and I was happy to play Marco in the final."

Ding, 23, started playing snooker at the age of 9 and is now the most popular and successful professional player in China and has many championships in hand.
