Anti-dumping Tax

China will impose an anti-dumping tax on imports of caprolactam, a synthetic polymer widely used in textiles, from the EU and the United States for five years beginning on October 22, 2011, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said.

According to the MOFCOM statement, DSM Fibre Intermediates B.V. and six other European companies will be subject to an anti- dumping tax between 2.3 and 4.9 percent, while other EU companies will be subject to an anti-dumping tax of 25.5 percent.

As for U.S. caprolactam exports to China, DSM Chemicals North America, Inc., Honeywell Resins & Chemicals LLC and the BASF Corporation will face an anti-dumping tax of 2.2 percent, 3.6 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively. Other U.S. companies will be levied a uniform anti-dumping tax of 24.2 percent, said the MOFCOM.

Aircraft Sales Takeoff

China's home-grown aircraft Modern Ark 60 has received 249 orders worldwide since 2005, as demand for energy-efficient propeller aircraft has been on the rise amid high global oil prices. So far 66 aircraft have been delivered, said the aircraft manufacturer Xi'an Aircraft International Corp.

The company aims to take the biggest share of the world market for turboprop regional aircraft by 2020, boosted by the Modern Ark experiencing a global sales surge, said Jiang Jianjun, General Manager of Xi'an Aircraft International Corp.

Siemens' New Move

Siemens AG announced it will set up an industrial automation manufacturing and research and development (R&D) base in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, a move to further exploit China's western market and enhance R&D capability in the country.

The base will be Siemens' largest digital factory in China and the third R&D center for its industrial automation business, following bases in Germany and the United States. It is scheduled to begin operations by the first half of 2013.

The R&D center will be a part of Siemens' global industrial automation network and will focus first on the Chinese market and ultimately contribute to the international business.

"For R&D facilities, it's good in Sichuan, because many of China's leading research institutes and universities yield a rich talent pool," said Cheng Jianguo, an analyst of China Securities Co. Ltd.

Eight international organizations and nearly 40 overseas governmental and commercial delegations from 15 countries and regions, including the United States, Britain, Japan, South Korea, Poland, Mongolia, and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, will participate in the expo.
