Beijing Review and The Daily Mail, Pakistan, renew their cooperation contract on March 28 (WANG XIANG)
Beijing Review, China's leading English news weekly established in 1958, consolidated its strategic cooperation with the Pakistani media by renewing a professional cooperation agreement with The Daily Mail International of Pakistan in Beijing on March 28. The memorandum of understanding was signed in the presence of Li Yafang, President of Beijing Review, and Makhdoom Babar, Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Mail International. Li said "Makhdoom is an old friend of Beijing Review for the two media established cooperation as early as in 2006." She added that the renewal of the cooperation will promote the Beijing Review magazine in Pakistan and enhance Pakistani people's understanding of China. "I'm confident that Beijing Review and The Daily Mail International will share more opportunities as China and Pakistan work together to build the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)," she said. Makhdoom said Beijing Review has always been popular in Pakistan and his daily has reprinted many Beijing Review articles. "When we signed the previous cooperation agreement in 2006, there was no Belt and Road Initiative [the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road] and CPEC. But now we need to add them to our cooperation," he said. "We should synchronize joint efforts because the Pakistani and Chinese leadership have [been] very close over the past 67 years." According to the MoU, the two sides can share and exchange contents published in each other's publications, including news reports, photographs and articles, as well as personnel, to contribute to the promotion of China-Pakistan relations, people-to-people contact and CPEC projects. Beijing Review's multiple language formats and diverse publications provide in-depth coverage of politics, the economy, diplomacy and culture. The Daily Mail International, a leading newspaper in Pakistan, has in recent years established broad cooperation relations with Chinese media.
