I. Objectives:

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. In order to further promote China-Africa friendship and enhance people-to-people understanding, BEIJING REVIEW is hosting the Second ChinAfrica Short Video Competition from August to December 2020.

Focusing on China-Africa unity in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, China-Africa friendship, economic and trade cooperation, cultural exchanges, poverty alleviation, ecological protection and other topics of common concern between China and Africa, the competition invites entries from short video enthusiasts and institutions in China and Africa. By narrating unforgettable stories of China-Africa cooperation and closeness between the people, the competition aims to contribute to building an even closer China-Africa community with a shared future.

III. Timeline:

August-December, 2020

Video Collection: August-October

Online Display and Selection: November

Award Ceremony: December 2

 

IV. Participants:

African people who have studied or are currently studying in China, have worked or are working in Chinese companies, or are interested in Chinese culture, as well as Chinese who are engaged in work involving China-Africa exchanges, are invited to submit their videos related to the above-mentioned theme of the competition. Entries can be submitted in the name of an individual or a team.

 

V. Entry Categories:

The entries will be divided into two groups for evaluation according to the length of the videos:

Micro video group: 30 seconds to one minute

Short video group: one to five minutes

 

VI. Entry Requirements:

Videos should be in line with the theme and should be no more than five minutes

Videos should be original and must not contain materials related to pornography, violence, religion or racism. No advertisement is allowed.

Videos should have clear picture and sound quality with no less than 1280×720 resolution

Videos must be accompanied by subtitles in Chinese or English or French.

Video format should be .avi, .mov, .mp4 and .mpeg, and file size is suggested not to exceed 500M each.

 

VII. Entry Submission Method:

Participants in the main competition zone shall send their personal or team information (name, occupation, nationality, contact information) and their works to contacts@chinafrica.cn in the form of an email with the subject "Working Hand in Hand for a Shared Future+ title of the work.”

Entries from sub-zones would be submitted to the main zone by organizers of the sub-zones.

One Special Prize: RMB 10,000

Micro Video Group:

One First Prize: RMB 3,000

Three Second Prizes: RMB 2,000

Five Third Prizes: RMB 1,000

Short Video Group:

One First Prize: RMB 3,000

Three Second Prizes: RMB 2,000

Five Third Prizes: RMB 1,000

One hundred Best Participation Prizes

Fifteen Best Organization Prizes: RMB 2,000
