The 12th China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT) will be held from 8-11 Sept. 2008 in Xiamen, Fijian Province. CIFIT, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, is China’s only annual international investment promotion event that focuses on promoting bilateral investments. Statistics show that the past 11 sessions of the CIFIT have attracted more than 100,000 business people from 140 countries and regions resulting in the signing of more than 13,000 project contracts and introducing nearly $77 billion into China.
As this year marks the 30th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up drive, the 12th CIFIT will be more progressive in scale than usual. The focus on “introducing foreign direct investment” and “going global”, the upcoming CIFIT will continue to pay attention to investment negotiation and investment policy promotions, as well as to coordinated development of national and regional economy, and economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Strait. With the strong support of Chinese government and effort of the fair’s organization committee, preparation for the 12th CIFIT is progressing smoothly. The fair has some prominent features, such as greater focus on internationality, more effective project matchmaking, close concern on Taiwan region, and more optimized service, according to the organization committee. So far, government agencies and renowned companies from 49 countries and regions including Belgium, France, Sweden and Spain have booked booths at the fair. The United States, Australia and Turkey plan to host “the country’s day” events, and Brazil, Russia, India, France and Spain have plans to launch investment promotion campaigns at the 12th CIFIT. |
