IMPRESSION ON TIBET: China Tibet Online and the Chinese Photographers Society jointly hold a press conference on the "Impressions on Tibet" photography contest on July 17 in Beijing (TIBET.CN)

China Tibet Online and the Chinese Photographers Society jointly held a press conference on July 17 in Beijing, announcing the first "Impressions on Tibet" photography contest.

Wang Zhengsheng, vice director of the organizing committee of the contest, said Tibet has long been an important subject of modern photography. Both Chinese and overseas photographers have been fascinated by the natural beauty and unique folk culture of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Works will be evaluated according to the themes of natural beauty, folk customs, social economy and Tibetan history. Photographers from China's mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Province as well as overseas Chinese are eligible to participate.

According to the organizing committee, there will be four gold prizes, eight silver prizes, 12 bronze prizes, and 28 honorable mentions. The best 150 works will be included in a collection.

According to Wang Pijun, vice director and secretary general of the organizing committee, the outside world sometimes misunderstands or even demonizes the current Tibet due to insufficient information. The photography contest is an opportunity to truthfully present Tibetan progress to the world.
