The Second China-U.S. Health Summit opened at the National Convention Center in Beijing on October 31.

With the title of "Healthcare Reforms: The Roles of Government, Market and Professionalism," the summit attracted some 800 representatives including healthcare policy makers and professionals from both countries.

According to Dr. Liu Yuanli, Director of Harvard School of Public Health China Initiative, the summit aims to offer a high-level platform to facilitate communication and cooperation between the two countries, as the world's largest developing and developed countries have shared concerns over the pursuit of happiness as well as the balance between limited medical resources and unlimited healthcare coverage.

The summit is co-hosted by Harvard School of Public Health, Peking Union Medical College, and Tsinghua School of Public Policy and Management. The first summit was held in Boston, United States in September last year.
