Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari sent a message of congratulations to China as soon as Xi Jinping was elected President of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

Xi was elected at the fourth plenary meeting of the first session of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC), the country's top legislature, in Beijing on March 14, when he was also elected Chairman of the PRC Central Military Commission.

In his message, President Zardari expressed the hope that China will achieve many more momentous milestones in its pursuit of national rejuvenation and peaceful development under Xi's leadership.

Zardari also expressed the hope that the multifaceted friendship between Pakistan and China and its people would be further strengthened and taken to new heights.
