April 1 is the 10th anniversary of the death of Hong Kong singer-actor Leslie Cheung (1956-2003), who killed himself by jumping from the 24th floor at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Many fans gathered in Hong Kong to pay tribute.
An exhibition named "Miss You Much Leslie" is held in Hong Kong's Times Square from March 29 to May 1. A five-meter-high sculpture of Cheung is on display together with some of his personal items and records. A show of more than 1.9 million origami cranes folded by fans breaks a Guinness World Record.
Two memorial concerts were held. Famous stars Jacky Cheung, Kelly Chen and Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, performed to mark the day.
Memorials are held every year attended by both Cheung's fans and fellow entertainers.
