New District, New Look
Fuzhou promotes the Fuzhou New District during the 17th CIFIT
By Zhou Xiaoyan

The Fuzhou Municipal Government  held a press conference to promote its new district to investors from home and abroad during the 17th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) on September 7. The CIFIT is an annual event held in the coastal city of Xiamen, southeast China's Fujian Province.

The new district is located in the southeast coastal part of the city, covering 13 national-level and provincial-level industrial and economic parks, such as the Fuzhou-Taiwanese Investment Zone, the Fuzhou High-tech Industrial Park and the Fuzhou Bonded Port.

The creation of the district is part of a national plan to develop the region on the western coast of the Taiwan Straits. The new district serves as Fuzhou's foothold from which to open up to further trade and cooperation with Taiwan.

The Taiwanese Xinguang Group announced during the 17th CIFIT that it will be investing $60 million into the construction of its mainland headquarters in the Fuzhou New District.

Yang Yue, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Fuzhou Municipal Committee, said the new district will be developed in the future in such a way that it becomes a core part of Fuzhou.
