The Shanghai World Expo runs from May 1 to October 31, a total of 184 days.

5.28 square km

The Shanghai World Expo site covers a total area of 5.28 square km. It is located between the Nanpu Bridge and the Lupu Bridge along both sides of the Huangpu River.

28.6 billion yuan

Shanghai has invested 28.6 billion yuan ($4.19 billion) in its World Expo, including 18 billion yuan ($2.64 billion) for construction and 10.6 billion yuan ($1.55 billion) for operations, Mayor Han Zheng said in an interview with People.com.cn

5 buildings

Five projects, namely the Expo Boulevard, the China Pavilion, the Expo Center, the Culture Center and the Theme Pavilion, will be permanent buildings for continual use after the Expo.

246 participants

As of April 2010, 246 countries and international organizations had confirmed their participation in Expo 2010.

70 million visitors

Expo officials expect some 70 million visitors from all over the world.

20,000 performances

Expo 2010 will have a total of 20,000 performances, with half of them coming from participating countries and international organizations. On average, more than 100 performances will be held every day during the six-month Expo.

9 types

Tickets for Expo 2010 are divided into nine types, which are broadly classified into individual and group tickets. Individual tickets are divided into Peak Day Admission and Standard Day Admission, the former including Peak Day Single-Day Admission and Peak Day Special Admission, and the latter including Standard Day Single-Day Admission, Standard Day Special Admission, 3-Day Admission, 7-Day Admission and Evening Admission. Group tickets are divided into Group Admission and Student Group Admission.

4 ticket purchase channels

There are four ticket purchase channels, including ticket outlets, ticket websites, teleticketing, and Travel Tour Expo for tourists.

4,000 licensed shops

There are 8,000 different licensed products for Expo 2010, including precious metals, toys, accessories, lottery tickets, food and personal care products. They will be on sale at more than 4,000 retail shops across the country.

560,000 volunteer applicants

By the end of 2009, some 560,000 people had successfully registered online to become Expo volunteers. The oldest is 99 years old and the youngest is 16.

1,500 volunteer stations

During Expo 2010, a total of 1,500 City Volunteer Service Stations will appear on the streets of Shanghai to provide many kinds of services for visitors.

4,000 taxis

4,000 Expo-exclusive taxis have been in service since mid-April this year.

4 languages

The official Expo 2010 website (www.expo2010.cn) serves as an information center and a working platform for running the Expo in four languages: Chinese (Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese), English, Japanese and French.

500 Expo Homes

A total of 500 Expo Homes have been selected from among ordinary families in Shanghai for tourists during the Expo. "Expo Homes" is a program to provide cultural exchange, catering, lodging, and information services in local houses and communities. Relevant requirements and standards for the home space, living facilities and cleanliness ensure the quality of "Expo Homes."

200 Expo Farmhouses

A total of 200 "Expo Farmhouses," which are similar to the "Expo Homes," will open for tourists in Shanghai's rural areas.
