Online Version of USA Pavilion Launched

An online version of the USA Pavilion was launched at Expo 2010 Shanghai on Tuesday, which brings the Pavilion Experience to life through a virtual tour for global audiences with the help of 3D media interactivity.

"World's Fairs are about creating enduring ties, and Expo 2010 is building a stronger relationship between the United States and China. This virtual tour will enable us to share those positive energies with those who are unable to visit the Pavilion in person," said U.S. Commissioner General, Jose H. Villarreal.

Entering the website, visitors are "greeted" by a virtual Student Ambassador, representing the 168 Student Ambassadors who have become a favorite of guests visiting the actual Pavilion.

Three acts highlight the virtual tour through the USA Pavilion. Visitors can receive an abbreviated greeting from U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and U.S. President Barack Obama in act I.

Act II allows visitors to test their knowledge of American culture, history and entertainment through a quiz, which may even challenge a few Americans. This act also features a preview of "The Garden," the inspirational story shown in the main theater of the Pavilion of an American girl who dreams of turning a vacant city lot into a garden with the help of neighbors.

The last act showcases many companies' efforts to achieve sustainability, innovation and build a sense of global community.

As a joint project between the USA Pavilion and the U.S. Department of State, the online version of the USA Pavilion not only provides a platform for international audiences who cannot visit the Shanghai World Expo by themselves, but also helps the visitors enjoy a preview of the pavilion before their actual tour.

Actually the Shanghai Expo is the first world's fair to host an online platform that allows viewers to take a glimpse at all the pavilions and keep the legacy of the Expo alive forever.
