One explosion occurred around the Panjiawan bus stop at 7:10 a.m., and the other happened at the nearby intersection of Changyuan Road and Renmin West Road at 8:05 a.m.

Two people were killed and 14 were injured in two separate explosions involving public buses in downtown Kunming city, in southwest China's Yunnan Province, early on Monday.

One explosion occurred around the Panjiawan bus stop at 7:10 a.m., and the other happened at the nearby intersection of Changyuan Road and Renmin West Road at 8:05 a.m..

Police confirmed both explosions, but failed to provide more details.

The area around Panjiawan bus stop, which was condoned off by the police, was scattered with broken glass and the front of the destroyed bus could be seen.

One witness recalled hearing a loud noise and then saw the bus blasted into pieces. The wreckage had been cleared by 9 a.m..

No other information, including the cause of the explosions, has yet been provided by the police or other authorities.
