Wu Xinxiong appointed acting governor of Jiangxi Province
Wu Xinxiong, deputy secretary of east China's Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), was appointed acting governor of the province on Tuesday.

Wu, 57, was appointed at the 24th session of the Standing Committee of the 10th Jiangxi Provincial People's Congress held in Nanchang, the provincial capital.

The session also accepted the resignation of Huang Zhiquan, former governor of Jiangxi Province.

Wu is a native of Jiangyin city, east China's Jiangsu Province. He joined the CPC in 1979.

He received a bachelor's degree of chemistry from the Nanjing University of Technology in 1977.

He has served as deputy secretary of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee, deputy governor of the province and secretary of the CPC Nanchang Municipal Committee since January 2003.

Wu is an alternate member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
