Missing, a thriller by Hong Kong director Tsui Hark, premiered in Beijing on Monday.
Production on the film, which was inspired by a documentary about an ancient sunken city, began three years ago. The film was shot on location at the sunken city.
At the event, Tsui and cast members Angelica Lee and Guo Xiaodong spoke about their experiences filming the movie, which involved lengthy scuba diving scenes as the love story is set underwater.
Famous for his action movies, Tsui Hark says this film is an exploration of the human existence and civilization.
The film will open in theaters on June 12.
