A special woman will meet moviegoers in the Chinese mainland on this year's International Women's Day.

The Iron Lady, a biographical film based on the life of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, will open in mainland cinemas on March 8, according to Mtime.com.

The film shows the personal and political life of Thatcher, and how she broke into the male-dominated political arena and became Britain's first female prime minister.

Actress Meryl Streep's portrayal of Thatcher has won many accolades, including an Oscar for Best Actress.

Streep will interact with Chinese audiences in a special form at the film's local premiere, according to Mtime.com.
