Chinese actor Yao Anlian (left) addresses the award ceremony after winning the best actor at the 2014 Montreal World Film Festival in Canada (XINMIN.CN)

Yao Anlian has become the first Chinese since 2004 to win the best actor award at the just-concluded Montreal World Film Festival.

Yao reaped the honor for his role in the industry themed movie Factory Boss.

Factory Boss tells the story of a manufacturing business based in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province.

As rising labor costs lead China to lose its manufacturing industry to Southeast Asian countries, the "world's factory" Shenzhen begins to enter a crisis.

The topic has caused much debate among world media considering China's influence in the international manufacturing industry.

The film is the only Chinese movie to compete among the 19 on the competition list.

Factory Boss will open in Chinese theatres on October 21.
