Doraemon Tops Chinese Box Office over the Weekend

Japanese animation Stand By Me Doraemon toppled Avengers: Age of Ultron and topped the Chinese box office over the weekend.

Released on Thursday, Doraemon has grossed 2.37 billion yuan ($38.3 million) over the weekend.

And it went on to gross 89 million yuan ($14.4 million) on Monday alone, which was Children's day.

The Indian Film P.K. opened in second place in its first week and slipped to fourth in its second frame.

Avengers, Age of Ultron added $17.0 million in its third week, in second place.

Third place went to Tomorrowland with a $14.1 million take in six days.
