NPC Deputies Hold Panel Discussions
Share

Deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) session have held panel discussions following Premier Wen Jiabao's Government Work Report delivered at the opening session. They shared their views on China's economic development as well as improving people's livelihood in the 12th Five-Year Plan.

"People's livelihoods are a big concern, and also an important index of happiness," said Zeng Qinghong, NPC Deputy from Jiangxi Province. "Only by better dealing with social welfare, medical and health care services, housing and education, can people feel increasingly content."

"Therefore, we need on one hand to step up efforts in promoting economic growth, and on the other hand to take measures to improve people's livelihood. This will combine economic development and environmental protection in Jiangxi Province," she continued.

"China has implemented a series of measures and achieved remarkable results in the past years in improving people's livelihood across the country," said Han Yongdong, NPC Deputy from Qinghai Province. "The measures are practical and efficient. And we have witnessed rapid social development in various ways, thanks to the socialist system and opening-up and reform policies."
