Chinese musician Liu Huan and British soprano Sarah Brightman will form the musical lineup for the theme song of the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games on Friday night, according to organizers.

Zhang Heping, director of the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 29th Olympic Games (BOCOG) Opening and Closing Ceremonies Department, revealed the news to reporters at a press conference held in the Olympic Main Press Center in Beijing on Wednesday.

Zhang introduced to reporters the arrangement of the opening ceremony and told reporters that the Olympic theme song will make its debut following a series of performances, explaining why the song has been absent during the dress rehearsals. However, he refused to disclose any information about the song, terming it "a secret".

Zhang said the BOCOG has selected China's Liu Huan and UK's Sarah Brightman as the theme song singers, but didn't give any further information.

Liu Huan, who wrote the "One World, One Dream" Olympic jingles, has just finished his part in the Olympic torch relay at its Tianjin leg days ago.

Sarah Brightman, who gained worldly acclaim for her unique style of a blend of classical vocals and pop-inspired instrumentation and arrangement, arrived in Beijing days before the Olympics and was spotted near the National Stadium, the venue set for the opening ceremony of the 2008 Games.
