Swimming--Men's 100m Breaststroke

Kosuke Kitajima of Japan successfully defended his Olympic crown with a new world record of 58.91 seconds in the men's 100m breaststroke. Alexander Dale Oen of Norway won the silver in 59.20 seconds, and Hugues Duboscq of France took the bronze in 59.37 seconds

(L-R) Cullen Jones, Jason Lezak, Michael Phelps and Garrett Weber-Gale kiss their gold medals after the award ceremony. The U.S. swimmers shattered their own 4X100m freestyle relay world record again with 3 minutes and 8.24 seconds. Team France took the silver. The bronze went to team Australia

Chen, the first to defend the Olympic title in the country's women weightlifting history, set two Olympic new records in clean and jerk as well as total result with 138 kg and 244 kg respectively

Archery--Men's Team

(L-R) Silver medallists Team Italy, gold medallists Team South Korea, and bronze medallists Team China. South Korean archers IM Dong-Hyun, Lee Chang-Hwan and Park Kyung-Mo shot a total of 227 points, a new 24-arrow Olympic record up from 224 points
