(L-R) Silver medallist Alessandra Sensini of Italy, gold medallist Yin Jian of China, and bronze medallist Bryony Shaw of Great Britain. Yin won the country's first Olympic sailing gold. China has already won two Olympic silver medals in windsurfing, with Zhang Xiaodong at the 1992 Barcelona Games and Yin Jian at the 2004 Athens Games, plus the Laser Radial bronze won by Xu Lijia at the Beijing Games on Tuesday

(L-R) Silver medallist Soslan Tigiev of Uzbekistan, gold medallist Buvaysa Saytiev of Russia, and bronze medallists Murad Gaidarov of Belarus and Kiril Terziev of Bulgaria. The 33-year-old Russian has won the third Olympic gold in the event after the 1996 Atlanta and 2004 Athens Games

Taekwondo--Women's 49kg

(L-R) Silver medallist Buttree Puedpong of Thailand, gold medallist Wu Jingyu of China, and bronze medallists Dalia Contreras Rivero of Venezuela and Daynellis Montejo of Cuba. It's the first time for China to win this class since the taekwondo events were included into Olympic programs at the 2000 Sydney Games

Taekwondo--Men's 58kg

Gold medallist Guillermo Perez of Mexico celebrates after the competition. Yulis Gabriel Mercedes of Dominican Republic took the silver. The bronze went to Rohullah Nikpai of Afghanistan and Chu Mu-yen of Chinese Taipei, gold medallist at the 2004 Athens Games. Perez won the country's first gold at the ongoing Games

Athletics--Women's Hammer Throw

Aksana Miankova of Belarus during the competition. Miankova won the gold with a new Olympic record of 76.34 meters. The silver medal went to Yipsi Moreno of Cuba with 75.20 meters. China's Zhang Wenxiu claimed the bronze with 74.32 meters, wining the country's second bronze in athletics at the ongoing Games

Athletics--Men's 200m

Usain Bolt of Jamaica poses by the results board with his new world record of 19.30 seconds after the men's 200m final at the National Stadium. The previous record of 19.32 seconds was set by American Michael Johnson at the 1996 Atlanta Games. The 21-year-old has already broken the 100m world mark at the ongoing Games in 9.69 seconds. Shawn Crawford of the U.S. took the silver; his teammate Walter Dix won the bronze. Churandy Martina of the Dutch Antilles and Wallace Spearmon of the U.S., who finished second and third respectively, were both disqualified for encroaching on neighboring lines

Athletics--Women's 400m Hurdles 

Melaine Walker of Jamaica (C) during the competition. Walker won the title with 52.64 seconds and set a new Olympic record. Sheena Tosta of the U.S. took the silver. The bronze went to Tasha Danvers of Great Britain
