Activities on the Tree-planting Day
Farmers carry saplings to plant on the Dabieshan Mountains in Yuexi County of East China's Anhui Province, March 10, 2008. March 12 is the nationwide Tree-planting Day. The State Forestry Authority revealed in its 2007 Green Coverage Report published Tuesday that a total of 51.54 billion trees have been planted by ordinary Chinese people till the end of last year. China's forest acreage reached 175 million hectares last year, raising the country's forest coverage to 18.21 percent, compared with 12 percent in 1981. (Xinhua)
