On the evening of October 6, the country's top tennis tournament closed its curtains when Serena Williams celebrated her second China Open women's singles victory at National Tennis Center in Beijing.

Launched in 2004, the event now ranks among the top eight tournaments on the global tennis calendar and is the top in Asia.

The total reward at this year's event was $8.75 million, including $5.19 million for the WTA tournament and $3.57 million for the ATP tournament. It also attracted over 300,000 live spectators, setting a new record high for the annual event.
