Visiting top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo and U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi meet in Washington, D.C. on September 9.

Wu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress,

visited the United States on September 6-11 at the invitation of Pelosi. It was the first U.S. visit by a top Chinese legislator in 20 years.

Wu and Pelosi underscored the importance of a sound bilateral relationship to both countries and the world. They also discussed global climate change and other issues of common concern.

Wu also met President Barack Obama and other Congressional leaders during his stay.
