(LIN HUIFEN)

Firefighters struggle to extinguish a blaze in the Red Dragon Chinese commercial center in the northeastern outskirts of Bucharest, Romania, on May 26.

A fireman died and seven others were injured in the fire, which destroyed nearly 2,000 stores. Damage has been estimated at about 40 million euros ($49 million).

Opened in 2003, the Red Dragon was the largest Chinese market in Central and Southeastern Europe, with approximately 6,000 stores and 10,000 visitors daily on average. It is undergoing expansion and there will be 8,000 stores when the development plan is completed.
