 (XINHUA)

Leaders from the BRICS countries—Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa and China—meet in China's southern resort city of Sanya, Hainan Province, on April 14 at a summit to coordinate their stance on major economic and international issues.

The leaders issued a joint declaration pledging to support the reform and improvement of the international monetary system and strengthen coordination on issues such as commodity price fluctuations, climate change and sustainable development.

BRICS are five of the world's largest emerging economies. Their combined gross domestic product accounted for 18 percent of the world's total in 2010.
