Fatal Accident in Taiwan
Share

(XINHUA)

Five mainland tourists were killed when a small train overturned in Taiwan's Ali Mountain area on April 27. At least 100 were injured in the accident. All the deceased were female.

Local media said a tree branch broke and fell on the railway line, hitting the last carriage, which then caused several carriages to overturn.

Ali Mountain is one of Taiwan's premier tourist attractions for mainland tourists. Taiwan authorities say 1.82 million mainland tourists visited the island on tour packages from July 2008 to the end of 2010.
