A pair of figure skaters compete at the ongoing 12th National Winter Games, which kicked off at the Rings Stadium in Changchun, northeast China's Jilin Province, on January 3.

The event will last till January 13. Nearly 1,400 athletes from 43 provinces and regions compete for 115 gold medals in 105 events under the categories of skating, skiing, biathlon, curling and ice hockey.

It is the fifth time the quadrennial event has been staged in Jilin, a traditional powerhouse in winter sports, since the games were started in 1959.
