A new dream

Guangzhou is in the midst of a new type of urbanization, which it calls its "new dream." A blueprint integrating a low carbon economy and intelligent city with improving the daily lives of its residents is being drawn up.

The city has plans for the construction of Binhai New Town in the Nansha District and Shanshui New Town in the eastern part of the city, while developing the sub-centers of Huadu, Zengcheng and Conghua. A multi-dimensional city structure of "one metropolitan area, two new towns and three sub-centers" will take hold once construction is complete.

Guangzhou is quickly making a name for itself in the service industry through investments funneled into finance and insurance, modern logistics, the culture sector and tourism. Guangzhou expends considerable energy attracting financial institutions to set up their headquarters in the city. With construction of the Nansha New District, Haizhu Eco City and International Financial City, the commercial environment in Guangzhou is taking shape.

Guangzhou is actively guiding private capital toward three areas.

First, infrastructure. The city is currently guiding private capital into transportation, urban construction, information technology, energy, education, culture and health care.

Second, leading industries. Capital will head toward emerging industries with the idea of "connecting infrastructure construction with the development of leading industries."

Third, development platforms. These include financing operations, land development, investment promotion and daily management.

And to improve investment efficiency, Guangzhou will quicken its investment approval process and re-organize its investment environment to make it more in line with international practices.

New journey

In the next five years, Guangzhou will become an international commercial and trade center and a renowned international cultural city while improving the city's core competitiveness, cultural power and international influence.

Without real efforts, a dream can only remain a fantasy. Guangzhou is making friends at home and abroad, incorporating wisdom from all over the world and accelerating its development in a rational and sustainable way. By working hand in hand, we may share the opportunities and look to the future to realize Guangzhou's dream and create a glorious future.
