Emergency personnel conduct search and rescue operations after a Taiwan-based TransAsia Airways plane careened into a river near Taipei on February 4.

The aircraft, carrying 58 passengers and crew members on board, crashed shortly after taking off. As of February 9, rescue operations were still underway, with 40 confirmed dead and three missing.
