SPEECH: Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister, addresses the Punjab Trade and Investment Forum held at the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing on April 21 (CHEN RAN)

Chinese investment is welcomed and investment security can be guaranteed, a top Pakistani official said in Beijing.

Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister, made the remarks at the Punjab Trade and Investment Forum held at the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing on April 21.

The programs presented by the Government of Punjab to Chinese investors are the southern loop of Lahore Ring Road and Rawalpindi Ring Road. The financial internal rate of return for the southern loop program is estimated at 14.11 percent, while the estimated return on investor's equity for the Rawalpindi program is 30.4 percent, according to the presentation.

The Government of Punjab will make efforts to ensure Chinese investment security and revenue as best as it can, Sharif noted.

According to a report on Xinhua News Agency, the bilateral trade between China and Pakistan is currently over $8 billion and both sides are committed to achieving a trade target of $15 billion by 2015.

Sharif arrived in Beijing on April 18 with a 20-member delegation including parliamentarians, senators, investors and industrialists.
