Vice President Attends Exhibition on Tibet's Achievements
Share

Vice President Xi Jinping on Monday attended the exhibition at the Tibet regional museum that features the achievements of Tibet since its peaceful liberation 60 years ago.

Xi, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, saw the photos and items that show the historical moments and significant accomplishments in the region, as well as the improvement of people's living conditions.

Looking at the photos of Tibetan antelopes, he talked about the ecological protection efforts on the plateau and said, "It is an important task to protect the ecology in Tibet. The green water and blue sky must be effectively safeguarded."

Xi was also glad to see traditional culture, like the Tibetan opera, has been well preserved.

Xi, who arrived in Lhasa on Sunday, is heading a central government delegation to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Tibet's peaceful liberation.

The regional museum of Tibet opened in October 1999 and is the first modern museum in Tibet.
