The Chinese Government via its embassy in Burundi on Monday afternoon donated six vehicles worth $200,000 to the Burundian public health and AIDS control ministry to strengthen the country's health sector, the Burundian Government said in Bujumbura after signing the donation agreement.

"We're facing a problem of human resources in our health sector and this donation comes to strengthen our health system," said Burundian Public Health and AIDS Control Minister Sabine Ntakarutimana.

The donation consists of two ambulances, two minibuses and two small-sized cars.

Chinese Ambassador to Burundi Yu Xuzhong hailed the cooperation existing between Burundi and China and pledged that China will continue to support Burundi.

"We will continue to back Burundi as much as we can," said Yu Xuzhong after the signing of the donation agreement.

She commended the Chinese donation and added that it is a "continuation" of the Chinese assistance that follows Mpanda General Hospital built in the country's western province of Bubanza with a Chinese funding.

Mpanda General Hospital is one of Burundi's biggest hospitals.

China and Burundi are enjoying flourishing relations notably in the sectors of health, infrastructure and energy.
