The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Thursday that it expects the upcoming Group of 20 summit would focus on issues of global growth, job creation and the eurozone debt crisis.
The meeting of the developed and developing countries will also discuss the status of boosting the IMF lending capacity and quota reform, Gerry Rice, spokesman for the IMF, said in a news briefing.
The IMF ended its spring meetings in April with pledges of more than $430 billion from individual countries in efforts to counter any fallout from the eurozone debt crisis.
Rice said that during the June 18-19 G20 Summit in Los Cabos, Mexico, leaders will firm up their commitments. He denied that there was backtracking or delays to beef up the IMF's war chest.
Rice also said the IMF expects speedy progress toward the completion of the 2010 quota and governance reform.
He said the IMF was ready to engage with Greece's new government after the election, adding that the democratic process in Greece should be respected.
