Chinese President Hu Jintao and leaders of other BRICS nations met in Los Cabos, Mexico on Monday ahead of the G20 Summit.
Leaders of Brazil, China, India, Russia and South Africa, or BRICS, are expected to exchange views on the unity of the bloc, and coordinate their stand on the issues to be discussed at the Los Cabos summit slated for Monday and Tuesday.
According to the summit's agenda, G20 leaders will discuss the world economic situation, the strengthening of the global financial system, green growth, trade and employment.
As the world economic recovery is being threatened by the eurozone crisis, slowdowns in major developed nations and some emerging economies and high employment, G20 leaders would make joint efforts to ensure global growth and stability.
Last November, the BRICS leaders also met ahead of the G20 summit in Cannes, France.
In March this year, the BRICS leaders met for the 4th summit in New Delhi, where they exchanged views on global governance, sustainable development, BRICS cooperation and international and regional issues of common concern, and reached important consensus.
The BRICS countries have become an important force in the international community. In the past years, BRICS nations have played an important and constructive role in tackling the global financial crisis and climate change and facilitating economic recovery.
As major emerging markets, the BRICS countries account for 42 percent of the world's population, 20 percent of the world's GDP and 15 percent of global trade.
