Crew members and passengers who foiled a hijack attempt on a Chinese plane have been honoured by the government.
The hijack attempt took place in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on June 29. Passengers and crew overpowered six people who attempted to take control of the flight ten minutes after take-off, from the remote desert city of Hotan.
Ten passengers have been named "Anti-Hijacking Fighter" and rewarded with 10,000 yuan ($1,570) each. Crew members of the Tianjin Airlines flight have also received 50,000 yuan ($7,850) for their bravery and proper response. Six hijackers were taken into custody in Hotan.
