State Council Appoints New Officials

The State Council, China's Cabinet, on Monday announced the appointment of several new officials.

Tong Gang was appointed deputy director of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television; Zhang Jianhua was appointed deputy director of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence; and Wang Jinsong was appointed president of Northwestern Polytechnical University (vice ministerial level).

Meanwhile, the State Council decided that Hu Haiyan will continue to serve as president of the Beijing Institute of Technology.

You Quan was removed from the post of deputy secretary general of the State Council; Wang Wei and Qu Wanxiang from their positions as deputy directors of the Ministry of Supervision; and Qu Wanxiang from the post of deputy director of the National Bureau of Corruption Prevention.

The State Council also decided Li Rongcan no longer serves as assistant to the commerce minister, and Jiang Chengyu no longer as president of the Northwestern Polytechnical University.
