Share

The Nanjing 2014 Grand Art Exhibition will be held at the Nanjing International Expo Center between August 18 to 30.

The exhibition will showcase works by top-notch domestic artists, allowing both local and foreign visitors to appreciate original works by these outstanding artists as they take part in the Second Summer Youth Olympic Games (Nanjing 2014).

As highlighted by Pierre de Coubertin, former President of the International Olympic Committee, Sport, Technology and Art are three key elements of the contemporary Olympic spirit that also best interpret the slogan, "The arts complete the spirit of the Olympic Games."

The exhibition comprises primarily of two sections. The first section features 300 pieces of works created by artists from 78 countries, carefully selected from the Olympic Fine Arts collection, including works from the Olympic Fine Arts 2008 (Beijing), Olympic Fine Arts 2012 (London) and Olympic Fine Arts 2016 (Rio de Janeiro) that has been in preparation for two years. The second section features 210 pieces of works from 70 distinguished contemporary artists, who will display three pieces each.

The exhibition covers four major art categories: Chinese painting, oil painting, woodcut and calligraphy. Large-scale works of contemporary Chinese masters such as Fan Zeng, Huang Yongyu, Liu Dawei, Yang Xiaoyang and Jiang Shanqing, will also be displayed alongside those of international masters, making this a significant art exhibition to watch for.
