Government Work Plan 2015: 'Battle' to Conserve Energy, Reduce Emissions

Speaking on environmental protection, Premier Li Keqiang called improving the environment a "battle" and listed the major targets for this year.

"We will fight to win the battle of conserving energy, reducing emissions. and improving the environment," Li said. "This year, we will cut the intensity of carbon dioxide by at least 3.1 percent, reduce both chemical oxygen demand and ammonia nitrogen emissions by around 2 percent, and reduce emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides by around 3 percent and 5 percent respectively."
